About the Course
This Grade 12 English course offers students an advanced, integrated mastery of the English language, designed under the new Ethiopian curriculum and the STEEP vision of empowering adolescent girls in STEM. It develops the core skills — Listening, Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, and Grammar — across five real-world themes. Chapter 1, Sustainable Development, the Green Economy and Technology in Agriculture, builds the foundational skills of active listening, strategic reading, structured writing, academic vocabulary, and accurate grammar. Chapter 2, Life Skills, deepens comprehension, critical reading, formal and informal writing, topic vocabulary, and sentence expansion. Chapter 3, National Pride, develops cause-and-effect listening, supporting-detail reading, essay writing, reported speech, and idiomatic expressions. Chapter 4, Telemedicine and Robotics, focuses on stress and emphasis in listening, persuasion (ethos, pathos, logos), writing styles and formats, sentence types, and prefixes and suffixes. Chapter 5, Traffic Accidents, develops inference in listening, supporting-detail reading, formal report writing, and vocabulary-expansion strategies. Throughout, Ethiopian contexts make the language meaningful and prepare students for examinations, higher education, and confident real-world use.
